Vegetative Stage

Also known as: veg, vegging

The growth phase before flowering, when the plant builds stems and leaves under long-day (18/6) light.

The vegetative stage is the period after seedling growth when a cannabis plant focuses on building structure — stems, branches, and fan leaves — before it begins to flower. Photoperiod plants stay in veg as long as they get 18 hours of light, giving growers a window to train and size up the plant. Autoflowers veg only briefly before automatically flowering. A strong veg sets the foundation for yield.
