Plant Anatomy
Also known as: nodes, internode
The point on a stem where leaves and branches grow; node spacing indicates plant structure and health.
A node is the point on a cannabis stem where leaves, branches, and eventually bud sites emerge. The gap between nodes is the internode. Tight node spacing (short internodes) generally indicates a compact, indica-leaning, indoor-friendly structure with dense bud sites, while long internodes suggest a stretchy, sativa-leaning plant. Nodes are also where growers look for the first signs of plant sex during pre-flower.
