Photoperiod

Cannabis that flowers in response to the light cycle — it needs ~12 hours of darkness to bloom. The opposite of autoflower.

Photoperiod cannabis flowers in response to day length: it stays in vegetative growth under long days (18/6) and switches to flowering when the dark period reaches roughly 12 hours. Outdoors, shortening late-summer daylight triggers flowering naturally. Indoors, the grower flips the timer to 12/12. Photoperiods reward the grower with a controllable veg window for training and bigger yields, but they take longer (4–6 months seed to harvest) than autoflowers.
