Terpene

Terpenes are volatile aromatic compounds produced in the same trichomes as cannabinoids. They give each strain its distinct smell and taste — citrus, pine, fuel, berry, lavender — and are thought to modulate the effects of THC and CBD through the 'entourage effect.' The dominant cannabis terpenes include myrcene (musky), limonene (citrus), pinene (pine), caryophyllene (pepper/fuel), and linalool (floral). Total terpene content matters as much as the ratio for flavor intensity.
