Cannabinoids & Chemistry

Cannabinoid

The class of active chemical compounds in cannabis (THC, CBD, CBG, etc.) that interact with the body's endocannabinoid system.

Cannabinoids are the family of active compounds produced in cannabis trichomes that interact with the human endocannabinoid system. The plant makes over 100 of them; THC and CBD are the most abundant and well-studied, followed by minor cannabinoids like CBG, CBN, and CBC. Together with terpenes, the full cannabinoid profile shapes a strain's effects — the basis of the 'entourage effect' theory.
