Genetics & Breeding
Also known as: pheno
The observable traits a plant actually expresses (height, smell, potency) — the result of its genetics meeting its environment.
A phenotype is the set of physical characteristics a plant expresses — its height, structure, aroma, color, and cannabinoid profile. Two seeds of the same strain can produce different phenotypes because each carries a slightly different genetic combination and responds to its environment differently. 'Pheno-hunting' is the practice of growing many plants of a strain to find the standout individual, which is then cloned and preserved. Stable, well-bred strains show low phenotype variance.
