Genetics & Breeding
Also known as: inbred line
A cannabis line bred for many generations to lock in traits, producing highly uniform, true-breeding seeds.
An IBL, or inbred line, is created by repeatedly breeding closely related plants over several generations to stabilize a set of traits. The result is a true-breeding line: seeds that reliably produce nearly identical plants. IBLs are the opposite of wide F1 hybrids — they sacrifice hybrid vigor for consistency. Classic stabilized strains like Skunk #1 reached IBL-level uniformity through years of selective breeding.
