Cannabinoids & Chemistry

CBN

Also known as: cannabinol

A mildly psychoactive cannabinoid formed as THC ages, associated with sedative effects.

CBN (cannabinol) forms when THC degrades through age, heat, or light exposure. It is only mildly psychoactive and is most associated with sedation — which is why older, improperly stored cannabis often feels more 'sleepy.' Some users specifically seek CBN for sleep support. Its presence is a useful indicator of how fresh or well-stored a batch of flower is.
