Pistil

Also known as: pistils, hairs

The hair-like strands on cannabis buds that change from white to orange/amber as the plant matures.

Pistils are the hair-like reproductive structures that protrude from the calyxes of a female cannabis flower. They start white and wispy during early flowering, then darken to orange, red, or brown as the plant matures. While pistil color is a rough maturity guide, trichome color is the more accurate harvest indicator — pistils can mislead because they also darken in response to stress or handling.
